Mara Van Dyck drops a little sunshine with single 'Instantly'

Summer may be officially over, but Mara Van Dyck clearly isn't ready to let the sunshine go.

The Luxembourgish-Bulgarian pop artist has just released Instantly, a bright, romantic slice of dreamy pop inspired by that electrifying moment when you meet someone and somehow just know.

There's a very real love story behind it explains Mara, “‘One look, one dance, one night’ and that's really the whole story. I wrote this song about my boyfriend, my biggest supporter. Sometimes you don't need more than a moment to know.”

The track marks a sunnier turn for an artist whose music has often lived in a more cinematic, emotional world of late-night feelings. Her previous singles, Just for You and Not Alone, both carry that characteristic moody “night energy”. With Instantly, however, Mara wanted to flip the switch.

“This is my summer moment,” she says, albeit one arriving fashionably late.

“Yes, I'm releasing my summer song in October. Think of it as an emergency supply of sunshine for the autumn.” We'll take it!

Written by Mara and Emerine Samuel, Instantly was recorded and produced in Mara's home studio, with Samuel producing the track and Bornz handling the mix and mastering. The result blends dreamy pop textures with a modern, danceable beat, keeping things romantic without getting too sugary.

The song's creation was just as relaxed. Before putting pen to paper (or lyrics to melody) Mara and Emerine spent an entire session listening to songs that inspired them, searching for the right mood. Once they found it, the song came together naturally.

The visual side followed the same sunny, romantic vibe, with a photoshoot featuring beautiful dresses, a picnic and plenty of summer feeling.

So yes, Instantly might have arrived in October. But if Luxembourg's autumn is going to insist on bringing grey skies, a little emergency sunshine certainly can't hurt. Instantly is out now and available on YouTube (above) Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Shazam.
