scene.lu - 1 year old

We’re one year in! On 11 October, scene.lu celebrated its first birthday with an ever growing directory of local talent, a packed events calendar and nearly 100 articles shining a light on the music that makes Luxembourg tick. Not bad for a project fuelled by passion, a love of music and one person's determination to get the scene heard.

Birthdays are a good excuse to celebrate, and we’re not about to let this one pass quietly.

Since launching in October 2025, scene.lu has published 98 articles, listed 153 acts in its directory and posted 165 music events. That’s a whole lot of bands, gigs, new releases, stories and musical discoveries packed into just 12 months!

And while numbers are great, what really matters is what they represent: more opportunities for Luxembourg’s musicians to be discovered, more ways for music fans to find their next gig, and more attention for a scene that deserves a much bigger spotlight.

Filling a Luxembourg music scene gap

The idea behind scene.lu was simple: Luxembourg has an incredible variety of musical talent, but finding out who’s playing, what’s happening and which artists deserve a listen hasn’t always been straightforward.

Information was scattered across social media, event pages, websites and word of mouth. There was not really a single, open place bringing it all together for music fans, musicians and the wider international community.

Having spent years working in Luxembourg’s media and music scenes, founder Adam Walder knew the landscape well. He had previously launched FUZE Luxembourg in 2010, championing local artists through news, interviews, reviews and radio shows. The idea of creating something new had been brewing for a while, but the time finally felt right.

So, in October 2025, scene.lu went live with a mission to support and promote Luxembourg’s music scene in English, from the heart of the Grand Duchy to the world.

It was only fitting that scene.lu made its debut with a story about Rockhal turning 20. Published on 11 October 2025, Encore! Rockhal turns 20 and hits all the right notes celebrated the venue’s milestone, and the incredible diversity and talent of Luxembourg’s music scene, bringing together more than 40 local musicians for a memorable anniversary show. What better way to launch a platform dedicated to supporting and promoting Luxembourg music than by spotlighting a venue that has played such an important role in its story? From the very first article, scene.lu was about celebrating the people, places and sounds that make this scene so special.

The aim wasn’t to reinvent the wheel. It was to make the scene easier to find, explore and enjoy, whether you’re a musician looking for visibility, a promoter searching for local talent or simply someone wondering what to listen to this weekend.

One year, three big numbers

Let’s take a look at what the first 12 months have brought..... 153 acts in the directory

That’s 153 bands, solo artists and musical projects of many different genres, with a place to showcase who they are and what they do. The directory gives music lovers a starting point for discovering new sounds, while helping artists become more visible beyond their immediate circles. If you have not submitted your act yet for the directory, do it now!

New releases, artist stories, music news, industry tips and practical guides for musicians have all found their way onto scene.lu. The goal is to tell the stories behind the music and help artists navigate the business side of making it. Together, these figures offer a snapshot of a lively, diverse and constantly evolving music community, and they continue to grow.

From intimate club gigs and underground discoveries to festivals and bigger shows, the events section helps music fans find live music happening across Luxembourg. Because the only thing better than discovering a great local band is discovering them live.

Independent-minded and passion powered

scene.lu is an independent, non-profit-minded passion project, built outside the machinery of a larger media organisation. It’s driven by a belief that local music deserves attention, regardless of genre, audience size or whether an artist is already making waves. That independence also means keeping the focus firmly on the music and the people making it.

There’s no grand corporate strategy behind scene.lu, just a genuine desire to give something back to a scene that has given so much over the years. From established acts to emerging musicians finding their feet, every artist has a story worth telling and a potential audience worth reaching.

Of course, running a platform like this takes time, effort and plenty of behind-the-scenes work. Finding stories, writing articles, maintaining listings, keeping the events calendar fresh and spreading the word all come with the territory.

But when new acts join the directory, artists share their latest releases or readers discover a gig they might otherwise have missed, it all feels worthwhile.

Yep, there is a scene.lu mug!

So what happens next?

One year is a nice milestone, but the next chapter is about building on what’s already here: growing the directory, keeping the events calendar buzzing, publishing more stories and finding new ways to connect musicians with the people who want to hear them.

There’s room for more interviews, deeper features, concert reviews and practical advice from people who know the industry. There may also be opportunities to explore new formats and give artists even more ways to share their music and experiences. In fact the floor is also yours!  If anyone wants to contribute by submitting articles or ideas, they are more than welcome. Send an email to contact@scene.lu

Perhaps most importantly, scene.lu wants to become an increasingly useful part of Luxembourg’s music community. That means welcoming more contributions, hearing from more artists, working with more promoters and venues, and encouraging music fans to get involved.

No promises of world domination just yet. But helping Luxembourg’s music travel a little further? Absolutely.

This birthday belongs to the scene

A platform like this is only as good as the people who make up the scene it represents. Every artist who submits a profile, every promoter who shares an event, every musician who tips us off about a release and every reader who clicks, listens, shares or turns up to a gig helps keep the whole thing moving.

So, as scene.lu turns one, a massive thank you goes out to everyone who has contributed, supported the project, spread the word or simply taken the time to discover something new.

And if you haven’t explored the site yet, now’s a pretty good time to start. Browse the directory, check out the latest stories, find a gig and support the artists making music right here in Luxembourg. One year down. Plenty more music to discover.
