There are moments in the Luxembourgish music scene that transcend a simple release date. They become a testament to resilience, a tribute to friendship, and a defiant statement that the music never truly stops.
On 25 April, alternative metal outfit NEXT DEED will deliver one of those moments with their third EP, The Beloved - Act 2.
For the uninitiated, NEXT DEED isn't just another band on the bill. Since forming in 2021, they’ve been drawing quite a bit of attention. Their debut EP New Beginnings (2023) saw the single “Lost Soul” clinch the number 1 spot on the local iTunes Rock Charts within 24 hours. They followed that up with The Soldier – Act 1 in 2024, where the single “Bulletproof” demolished that record, hitting number 1 in just six hours.
Honouring a defining voice
However, the road to The Beloved - Act 2 has been paved with profound sorrow. In March last year , the band lost their founding vocalist, Alain Hertges. Alain was more than a singer, his expressive, powerful voice was the emotional heartbeat of the band’s sound, a blend of gritty alternative metal that resonates with fans of Godsmack and Alter Bridge.
In the wake of such a loss, many bands would have called it quits. Instead, Sue Scarano, Lou Metz, Romain Haas, and Kevin Roy chose to finish what they started.
"United by Alain’s passion, creativity, and the unfinished musical vision they had built together, Next Deed made the decision to continue their work and honour his legacy," the band said in a joint a statement.
The Beloved – Act 2 is a rare, poignant EP recording. It features Alain’s final vocal performances, meticulously integrated alongside guest singers who stepped in to help the band complete this chapter of their ambitious five-part conceptual storyline.

A new chapter begins
While Act 2 serves as a bridge and a farewell to Alain’s era, the band is also looking toward the horizon. After an extensive search for a voice that could respect the past while driving the band forward, NEXT DEED has announced Carole Dondlinger (ex-Fluyd) as their new frontwoman.
Carole is no stranger to the big stage, bringing a "scratchy, smoky intensity" that promises to add a new layer of fire to the band’s signature sound.
The release show - Save the date!
This is far more than just a digital drop. NEXT DEED will celebrate the release of ‘The Beloved – Act 2’ EP with a big gig returning to a familiar venue for them - The Rockhal Floor on 25 April, supported by another great local band, Fallen Lies with their special blend of metal and alternative rock.

Doors open at 8pm, tickets are available now! Check out the scene.lu event for full details!
Expect an evening of high-octane riffs, intricate harmonies, and a heavy dose of emotion. It’s a celebration of lives lived through music and a band that refuses to let the flame go out.
