Luxembourg pop artist Debbie M is turning the page on a new chapter with the release of her latest single “Opposite”, out now, a track that sees her embracing a darker, more beat-driven alt-pop sound and stepping confidently into her own artistic identity.

Following her first two releases, “Hold On To” and “Higher”, which introduced listeners to her journey from a musical theatre and classical background into the world of pop, “Opposite” feels like the moment where everything clicks into place.

“While my first two releases marked my transition from a musical theatre and classical background into pop, Opposite feels like the moment I arrive at a sound I feel at home in,” says Debbie M. “It explores a darker, more beat-driven alt-pop direction and shows a new side of me as an artist.”

And that new side is impossible to miss. Built around a more atmospheric production, pulsing beats and a confident pop edge, “Opposite” moves away from traditional expectations and highlights Debbie M’s ability to blend her musical roots with a contemporary alternative pop sound.

The track also represents an international creative collaboration, bringing together talent from Luxembourg and Sweden. Debbie M teamed up with Swedish producer Robbin Larsson, alongside songwriters Mattias Skantze and Larisa Cof, to create the song’s distinctive sound and emotional core.

But beneath the catchy melodies and polished production, “Opposite” explores something many people can relate to: the frustrating habit of repeating the same patterns, even when we know better.

“Lyrically, Opposite reflects on familiar patterns: knowing better, but still repeating the same mistakes,” explains Debbie M. “For me, it is both personal and universal, touching on how easily lessons fade and cycles repeat.”

It is a theme that gives the track a deeper edge, a reminder that self-awareness does not always mean instant change, and that sometimes the hardest battles are the ones we repeat with ourselves.

With “Opposite”, Debbie M is defining the sound of her next era. After making the leap from classical and theatre influences into pop, she now looks firmly at home in a space that combines emotion, atmosphere and modern alt-pop energy.

The opposite of where she started? Maybe. But it might just be exactly where she belongs.
