Eleven years of memories, a relationship coming to an end, and emotions that are hard to put into words. Luxembourg DJ and producer José Sanchez is turning a deeply personal chapter of his life into music with “Missing You”, his latest release under his progressive electronic alias Calvion.

Break-ups are rarely easy. But when a relationship that has lasted 11 years comes to an end, there’s a whole lot of history, memories and emotions to process. For José Sanchez, AKA Calvion in his progressive electronic music universe, the answer has been to do what musicians do best: turn feelings into sound.

His new track, “Missing You”, is a deeply personal release inspired by his ongoing separation and the painful realisation that something you never wanted to lose might be slipping away.

“This track reflects the feeling of holding on to something that means so much to you, the memories you’ve built together, and the difficulty of accepting that something you never wanted to lose might be slipping away,” Sanchez explains.

It’s not exactly your standard recipe for a feel-good party anthem, but then again, electronic music has never been just about getting people onto the dancefloor. Sometimes, it’s about giving emotions somewhere to go, and perhaps finding a few people who understand exactly what you’re feeling along the way.

Released under the Calvion alias on his own E Haus Record label, “Missing You” offers a glimpse into the more progressive side of Sanchez’s musical world. Calvion gives him the freedom to explore a distinct sound and identity, separate from his other musical activities.

For him, music has always been a way to express things that words cannot quite capture. And while explaining the story behind a track can help listeners understand where it comes from, the beauty of music is that everyone can bring their own experiences to it.

Whether it reminds you of a relationship you thought would last forever, someone you wish you could call one more time, or simply a chapter of your life you’re not quite ready to close, the emotions behind “Missing You” are likely to feel familiar.

A soundtrack for the things left unsaid

There’s something powerful about taking a difficult personal experience and turning it into something that other people can connect with. What begins as one person's story can become a soundtrack for many.

That’s precisely what Sanchez hopes to achieve with “Missing You”. By sharing something so personal, he’s inviting listeners to find their own meaning in the track and perhaps recognise a little of themselves in it.

Of course, heartbreak and electronic music aren't exactly strangers. But this release is a reminder that behind the decks, the production software and the beats, there are real people with real stories to tell.

Sometimes making music is a way of working through those stories one track at a time.
