The auditions are over, the phone calls have been made and 12 artists have earned themselves another shot at Eurovision dreams. But who made the cut, and what happens next? Let the song contest games begin!

Eighty hopefuls walked into RTL’s studios over the weekend, all hoping to take one step closer to representing Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Now, just 12 remain in the running after a revamped selection process put the spotlight firmly on the artists themselves.

Following their auditions, the selected candidates received a phone call on Saturday evening inviting them back to RTL City on Sunday. There, they discovered they'd all made it through to the next round, before jumping straight into their first workshop. Talk about a busy weekend!

Meet Luxembourg's 12 Eurovision hopefuls

Drumroll, please! Here are the 12 artists who have secured their places in the next stage of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027:

Congratulations to all 12! They've made it through the first hurdle, but the road to Eurovision is only just getting started.

A new approach: the artist comes first

This year's selection process shook things up a little. Unlike previous editions, hopefuls didn't need to arrive with a finished original song. Instead, they could perform a cover, giving the jury a chance to focus on what really matters at this stage: vocal ability, artistic identity and stage presence.

The change appears to have opened the door to some fresh faces, with 80 artists auditioning over the weekend, around 50% more than in the previous two years.

The next challenge? Finding the right song for each artist.

From auditions to the perfect song match

The next major step is the Pairing Workshop, scheduled for November. This is where the shortlisted artists and selected songs will be brought together in a creative process designed to find combinations with serious Eurovision potential.

More than 300 songs have already been submitted by songwriters and composers, both in Luxembourg and internationally. And there's still time to add to the pile: song submissions remain open until 29 October 2026.

The 12 selected artists can also put forward their own material. The aim is to find the right song to showcase each performer's strengths and give Luxembourg a competitive entry on Europe's biggest musical stage.

As Elisabeth Conter, Project Manager for ESC Luxembourg, explained to RTL, the new format has already helped uncover artists the team hadn't encountered before. Now, the challenge is to find songs that fit their individual styles and the Eurovision universe.

Eurovision professionals and industry experts will guide the selection process, with the final line-up of Luxembourg Song Contest 2027 contestants expected to be announced in mid-November.

Save the date: Eurovision dreams head to Rockhal

The next big date for your diary is 30 January 2027, when the Luxembourg Song Contest returns to Rockhal in Belval.

That's when the finalists will take to the stage, and one lucky act will win the honour of representing the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria.

Until then, there are songs to discover, creative partnerships to make and plenty of decisions still to come.

So, Luxembourg's next Eurovision adventure is underway!

Want to follow the journey? Keep an eye on the official Luxembourg Song Contest website for the latest announcements, and tickets go sale soon for the Luxembourg Song Contest at the Rockhal.
