Screengrab of Josh Island live at Rockhal

Fancy a night at the Rockhal without leaving the sofa, queuing at the bar or hunting for a parking space? Luxembourg singer-songwriter Josh Island has the answer. His full Imaginary Borders album release concert, recorded live at the Rockhal on 7 March, is now coming to your screen.

No gig tickets, a last train home, or wondering whether you can get a decent view from the back. Now you can experience Josh Island live at the Rockhal from the comfort of your own armchair, pyjamas optional.

The concert captures a special homecoming moment for the Luxembourg-based artist, who took to the Rockhal Club stage to celebrate the release of his second studio album, Imaginary Borders. It was a major milestone for Josh, marking his biggest hometown show yet and bringing the new record to life in front of a live audience.

Eighteen songs, one concert

Clocking in at around 1 hour and 20 minutes of music, the show is a chance to experience the album as it was meant to be heard: live, loud and with a full band behind it.

The set moves between uplifting pop-rock, thoughtful songwriting and more intimate moments, taking in album highlights such as Unconditionally, Courage and Artemis, alongside fan favourites including Pennies From Heaven, Patio Blues and Love Don’t Come Easy.

There’s plenty of emotional territory to explore, too. Imaginary Borders is built around Josh’s belief that music can bring people together and challenge the physical and emotional walls we put up between ourselves. Written across several European cities, the album combines infectious melodies with introspective storytelling and an optimistic message about empathy, connection and understanding.

That spirit carries through the live performance, which closes with We Can Win, a fitting finale for a record that looks for common ground in a divided world.

A band that means business

Josh isn’t doing this alone. He’s joined on stage by an international line-up of musicians, with Nelson Canoa taking on musical direction and keyboards, alongside Joe Schmitz on keys, Rémy Labbé on trumpet, Guilherme Marinho on guitar, Bruno Duro on bass and Pedro Gonzalez on drums.

The concert was captured by a four-camera team, with Pieter Seyffert handling the edit and colour grading, alongside camera operators Momtchil Momtchilov, Fabio Mendes and Carlos Cruz, and video operating assistant Iris Dudek.

The result gives fans a chance to revisit the album launch, or discover the show for the first time, without having to leave home.

The project also acknowledges the support of Rocklab, which helped make the album release show happen as part of its Release Package, offering Luxembourg artists opportunities to present their music at Rockhal.

And if you’re short on time, use the timestamps below the video to jump straight to your favourite track. Although, honestly, once you’ve started watching, you might as well stay for the encore.

Now grab a drink, turn up the volume and let the Rockhal come to you. Sounds like a pretty good night in, sounds like Luxembourg!
