Made in Luxembourg, played in Hamburg: four acts hit Reeperbahn

Four Luxembourgish acts. One iconic Hamburg venue at Reeperbahn Festival. One very good reason to keep an eye on the Luxembourg music scene.

This September, four of the country’s most interesting acts are heading to Hamburg to show the international music industry exactly what Luxembourg sounds like.

As part of Sounds from Luxembourg at Reeperbahn Festival 2026, Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg will bring NINON, First Mote, ENGLBRT and RAFTSIDE to the legendary Prinzenbar on Friday, 18 September.

And with four very different sounds on the bill, there should be something for just about every musical taste.

A Luxembourg showcase in the heart of Hamburg

The Reeperbahn Festival, running from 16–19 September 2026, is one of Europe's major meeting points for the international music industry. Alongside hundreds of live performances, the festival brings together artists, labels, managers, publishers, booking agents, media and other music professionals from around the world.

It's a chance to put Luxembourg's music scene directly in front of an international audience and potentially make some very useful connections along the way.

The Sounds from Luxembourg programme kicks off at the Prinzenbar with a networking lunch from 12pm to 1pm, where festival delegates, artists and music professionals can meet over drinks and Luxembourgish specialities.

Then, from 1pm to 4:30pm, it's time for the music. Each of the four acts gets a 30-minute showcase, offering a concentrated snapshot of just how varied Luxembourg's contemporary music scene can be.

NINON — Alternative dream pop - 1pm-1:30pm

Opening the musical programme is NINON, the Luxembourgish-French musician whose dreamy, ethereal pop comes with a decidedly personal edge.

First Mote — Cinematic experimental folk - 1:30pm-2pm

Next up, things get considerably more stripped back.

First Mote is the duo of childhood friends Jamie Reinert and Christophe Demart, and their setup is wonderfully simple: baritone electric guitar and drums.

And Hamburg won't be their only chance to catch them. First Mote will perform an additional set on Saturday, 19 September at 14:15 on the MOPO(P)-Stage in the Festival Village at Heiligengeistfeld.

ENGLBRT — Electronic indie pop - 2:30pm-3pm

Then it's time to turn up the electronics.

ENGLBRT is the collaborative project of Georges Goerens and Niels Engel, two established figures from Luxembourg's music scene who came together following a residency at Esch-sur-Alzette's Kulturfabrik.

RAFTSIDE — Electro Pop - 3:30pm-4pm

Closing the Luxembourg showcase is RAFTSIDE, the long-running musical project of Luxembourgish-Polish multidisciplinary artist Filip Markiewicz.

Four acts, four sounds, one Luxembourg scene

What makes the showcase particularly interesting is that there isn't really a single thing you could call the "Luxembourg sound". Instead, you've got NINON's dreamy alternative pop, First Mote's raw instrumental experimentation, ENGLBRT's genre-bending indietronica and RAFTSIDE's eccentric electronic pop, four very different approaches from a small country.

A showcase like this is about promoting individual artists as well as showing international music professionals that Luxembourg has a diverse, ambitious and increasingly outward-looking music ecosystem.

Reeperbahn is particularly well suited to that mission. The festival's wider programme brings artists together with international decision-makers and industry professionals, with networking and matchmaking forming an important part of its role as a global music-industry meeting point.
