Fresh off their Song of the Year award by radio 100,7 for "Little Black Dress," Jana Bahrich and company from Francis of Delirium aren't resting on their laurels. They’ve just unleashed "It’s a Beautiful Life," a high-octane single teaser for their upcoming album Run, Run Pure Beauty, due for release on 29 May.

Hit pause on the hazy shoegaze vibes. This one goes straight for the jugular. The track kicks off with a gritty guitar charge that doesn’t let up, driving things forward at full throttle. As it unfolds, the sound cracks open into big, sky-high melodies practically begging to be played loud. Everything ramps up to those huge pop payoffs, landing with the same electric rush as a last-second buzzer-beater.

A slam dunk of a video!

Co-directed by Jana Bahrich and local film wiz Kiyan Agadjani, the music video is a cinematic treat. It features the "Rats”, a scrappy amateur basketball team, squaring off against some seriously menacing rivals.

While the scoreboard might not favour our heroes by the final whistle, the video captures that messy, beautiful team spirit. Keep your eyes peeled during the premiere; the crowd shots and cameos are a literal "who’s who" of the Luxembourg music scene.

In an interview with whsn-fm Jana explained that she went to Kiyan Agadjani "with an idea about gay basketball and he was in," she said. "We started referencing movies like Little Miss Sunshine, Space Jam and Juno and wrote a treatment about a rag tag team called ‘The Rats’ going up against a professional team, ‘The Giants’. The video ended up being about perseverance and connection, both on and off screen. We cast a lot of our friends, musicians, artists and filmmakers from Luxembourg and I’m still not totally sure how it happened, but it took us eight months to finish.”

What’s Next?

If this single is any indication, Run, Run Pure Beauty is going to be the soundtrack to our summer. Mark your calendars for the 29 May release, because Francis of Delirium is clearly playing in a league of their own. And you can catch their release show at Rotondes on 4 June, get you tickets already!
