Francis of Delirium

Francis of Delirium is the indie-rock project of Luxembourg-based musician Jana Bahrich, developed in close collaboration with drummer and producer Chris Hewett.

Emerging in 2019, the project quickly carved out a unique space in the Luxembourg music landscape, blending ’90s-inspired grunge textures with modern indie sensibilities. Bahrich, who grew up in Luxembourg playing everything from French horn to banjo, channelled her early musical curiosity into songwriting that is intimate, vulnerable and raw — the emotional backbone of Francis of Delirium’s sound.

The project first gained wider attention in 2020 with a series of EPs that showcased Bahrich’s talent for translating personal turmoil and self-reflection into soaring riffs and melodic urgency. Critics highlighted the project’s DIY spirit, cathartic energy and lyrical honesty, while fans were drawn to the way Jana’s introspection met with Hewett’s subtle, thoughtful production. Over time, Francis of Delirium evolved into a distinctive force in European indie rock, celebrated for both its sonic grit and its emotional clarity.

In 2024, Francis of Delirium released their debut album Lighthouse, a coming-of-age record that crystallised the project’s artistic voice. The album’s singles — including “Real Love,” “First Touch” and “Blue Tuesday” — were accompanied by linocut artwork crafted by Bahrich herself, reinforcing the project’s handcrafted, personal aesthetic. The record received strong critical acclaim for its blend of catharsis and tenderness, further expanding their international audience.

Despite coming from Luxembourg, Francis of Delirium has built an impressive presence on the global stage, touring across Europe and North America and opening for artists such as The 1975, Soccer Mommy and Kings of Leon.

In 2024, they became the first Luxembourgish act to perform a live session on Seattle’s legendary KEXP, marking a milestone not just for the band but for Luxembourg’s independent music community. Today, Francis of Delirium stands as one of the most exciting and emotionally resonant indie rock acts to emerge from the region — proof that powerful music can come from even the most unexpected places.
