Luxembourg's rock scene is getting a brand-new mini festival at one of the country’s oldest music venues.

On 11 July, the very first Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest will take over Sang a Klang in Pfaffenthal, bringing together local musicians, passionate fans and anyone who simply enjoys a night of loud guitars, big choruses and live music done properly.

Created by and for Luxembourg's rock community, it's aiming to be a gathering place for people who believe rock music is best experienced shoulder-to-shoulder with a crowd, and a drink in hand.

Every festival has to start somewhere, and Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest is hoping to become a regular fixture on the country's music calendar.

The organisers describe the event as more than just another concert. "Luxembourg has talented musicians and passionate audiences," says the festival team. "With Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest, we wanted to create something that brings people together around a shared love of live rock music. This first edition is just the beginning, and we're looking for the founding crowd that wants to be part of it from day one."

The choice of venue feels particularly fitting. Sang a Klang has been one of Luxembourg City's most beloved musical institutions for over a century, hosting countless performances. Although mostly known for its blues and jazz, it has been branching out in different genres in recent years. It has helped generations of musicians find their audience. Now, it will provide the backdrop for the first chapter of what organisers hope will become a long-running rock tradition.

Three bands, one big night

The inaugural edition features three Luxembourg-based bands ready to deliver a packed evening of classics, crowd-pleasers and original material.

  • Unread bring energetic rock performances fuelled by friendship, nostalgia and the songs that have soundtracked generations of music lovers.

  • 20 Minutes promise a powerful live show packed with alternative rock favourites, original tracks and enough stage energy to keep the audience moving from start to finish.

  • Meanwhile, Smoky Seattle will transport fans straight back to the golden age of grunge and alternative rock, blending beloved classics with their own original material and plenty of Seattle-inspired attitude.

Together, the three acts showcase the diversity and passion that continues to thrive within Luxembourg's homegrown rock scene.

Looking for the founding crowd

The organisers are inviting music fans to become part of the festival's story from day one. Whether you're the type who still treasures old concert tickets, someone who never misses a local gig, or simply curious about discovering Luxembourg's rock talent, Summerfest promises an affordable night of live music and community spirit.
