PTOLEMEA
Founded by Priscila Da Costa, PTOLEMEA is more than a musical project — it’s a spiritual voyage. The name is inspired by Claudius Ptolemaeus’ ancient theory of the music of the spheres, which proposed that the distances between planets correspond to musical intervals, creating a cosmic harmony that governs the universe.
For Priscila, this vision resonated deeply: she sees the expansion of the universe as mirroring the evolution of every living soul. Choosing the name Ptolemea was a symbolic act — a desire to share the key moments of her musical and spiritual journey, and to express her ever-shifting identity as an artist through sound, energy, and cosmic connection.
Launched in 2018, PTOLEMEA began as a rock-rooted exploration before evolving into a more atmospheric and experimental sound, mirroring Priscila’s personal transformation. From the raw intensity of TOME I (2018) to the introspective chaos of MAZE (2019), the project gradually incorporated ethereal textures and deeper emotional layers.
The shift became more pronounced with the singles MAD (2021) and Wrong Tears (2022). MAD reflects on the madness of reality as a necessary catalyst for growth, while Wrong Tears unveiled Priscila’s esoteric world through sound and visuals. The music video portrayed a ritualistic connection with nature — symbolizing rebirth and a departure from old patterns.
With her debut album Balanced Darkness (2023), Priscila fully embraced PTOLEMEA’s new identity — a fusion of organic and electronic soundscapes exploring the duality of light and shadow. The album invites listeners to confront their own darkness as a path to healing, transformation, and inner balance.
Today, PTOLEMEA stands as a portal between dimensions — where mysticism meets music, and sound becomes a tool for awakening.
PTOLEMEA’s second and upcoming album, Kali, is set for release on November 6th via Ragingplanet.
Named in tribute to the powerful Hindu goddess, the album marks a new chapter in PTOLEMEA’s ongoing journey of transformation.
In Hindu tradition, the universe unfolds in cycles — creation, destruction, and rebirth. Within this eternal rhythm, Kali plays a central role. Often misunderstood as a symbol of fear and chaos, she is in truth the force that clears the path for renewal. Her destruction is not senseless — it is purposeful. It annihilates illusion, ego, and corruption, making space for truth, light, and liberation.
Kali brings illumination into darkness. She embodies the fierce grace of nature itself: wild, raw, and deeply nurturing.
It is through this lens that PTOLEMEA continues its artistic and spiritual evolution.
Kali is more than an album — it is an invocation, a letting go, and an opening into something new.
