DJ Mike MC
Mike MC, born December 22nd 1964, active as a DJ, radio presenter and producer since 45 years.
Over the last four years, Mike has released several singles and a vinyl album.
The album consists of 8 songs, a small best of from the last three years of production. To take the idea from his first vinyl album in 1988 “Move You Body” we find on this new work a Hip Hop side and a House side.
Mike is one of the pioneers of Hip-Hop in Luxembourg, even the famous group DE LÄB used samples of Mike MC in their productions. Already 36 years ago, Mike showed his broad spectrum and interest in musical styles, which always have one thing in common, the influence of black music. On the 2025 album you will also find everything your heart desires, from hip hop to cross-over hip hop to house, tech house, afro house and NU disco, both party and socially critical elements.
Already on the 1988 album, Mike criticised racism, environmental destruction and the division of society in the title "Faith Hope and Charity", in rather poor English, as one could not imagine rapping in Luxembourgish at the time.
According to Mike, cultural exchange is the only way to live together in a society with mutual respect.
On the new album, Mike clearly takes a position against any form of extremism, whether from the left or the right, especially in the tracks "Den Ale Sak", "A Wat Mechs Du" and "2040".
In Mike's eyes, society needs neither class warfare nor unbridled extreme capitalism.
As is often the case, the solution lies in the golden mean that needs to be found.
Extreme positions disrupt rather than serve this discovery process because they mostley divide society.
In addition to these important positions, the party is not neglected with a total of 5 dance tracks.
The album is available in Luxembourg from CD Buttek Beim Palais and in Esch/Alzette from Vinyl Harvest | Record Distribution and Store starting February 08 / 2025
All the songs have already worked well on streaming and download platforms such as Spotify, Beatport, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Soundcloud... to name the most important ones.
In 2023 and 2024 Mike was invited to a lot of club events and finaly also to the Fête De La Musique Dudelange for live performances in front of a few thousand listeners.
Aside from this active DJ/Producer, Mike has taken advantage of his fame to collect donations for several organisations over the last 3 years, such as LUKraine, Télévie, Médecins sans frontières, Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner and Stëmm Vun Der Strooss.
These donations were collected during the “Generation X Party Luxembourg” evenings organised by Mike MC.
