Daily Vacation

Daily Vacation emerged 2011 as a three-piece band from mastermind Ralph Zeimet’s darker electro-rock project Fracture after long-term collaborators Sébastien Laas (Cyclorama) and Mike Tock (Metro) became increasingly influencing the sound and vibe of their musical output. Heavily influenced by the bright and positive vibes of the early 2010’s chill- & synth-wave movements, Daily Vacation always played with the contrasts of raw and energetic DIY garage rock, endless layered moody ambient sequences and somewhat cliché’d imagery of escapism: beaches, palm trees and Pina coladas.

On their first LP, 2012’s “Yumaque”, released on the excellent French-Canadian independant label ChezKitoKat Records, they seamlessly meander through the sonic beauty of psychedelic sixties-inspired surf music, dig deep into shoegaze and pair it with motorik-style drum jams underneath a whole bunch of layered dreamy synth lines.

After a brief patch of gigs and despite rather positive reviews, the band went on a 3 year hiatus. In Spring 2016, Laas and Zeimet met again and started experimenting with alternative recording and editing techniques. Over the years the effect pedal collections have been growing, real analogue synthesizers added to the mix. During the next 5 years, the duo wrote two dozens of full-lenght tracks. “Palmela” has been finally released in Summer 2022. The band is currently working on new material.
